The Journey

DYCE entered two teams (3rd and 7th grade) into its first competition in October 2021, sponsored by Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association (IRCA) in Dekalb, Illinois. Each team was able to reach the goal of qualifying for the state competition. During the state finals held in December 2021, each team dominated the floor and brought home the β€œW.” Two first place wins!

DYCE also entered into the national championship circuit in December 2021. An eight and under (8U) and a twelve and under (12U) team from DYCE traveled to Orlando, Florida, to compete in cheer and dance at an American Youth Football and Cheer (AYC) sponsored event. As a result, the 8U team earned 2nd place in dance, and the 12U team earned 3rd place.

Awesome accomplishment for a newly established team!

Our Goals

DYCE has three primary goals:

1.) To be a support group for all athletic teams while encouraging sportsmanship and team spirit

2.) To be a successful and competitive program that provides our services to low-income communities

3.) To help our student-athletes develop skills and traits to prepare them to succeed in future endeavors and improve their quality of life.

What we do

Our program develops the fundamental skills of cheerleading for girls and boys ages 5-18 years of age.

Our Coaches provide conditioning and strength training exercises, teach cheerleaders choreography for routines and observe cheerleading squads during practices and performances at different sporting venues and competitions.

Our student-athletes participate in community events, cheer clinics, and competitions while learning how to work as a team, exhibit good sportsmanship, and have much fun. They also travel to various competitions outside of Chicago, Illinois.

Our student-athletes must be in good academic standing to perform in events and competitions. We offer homework help and tutoring services during our afterschool hours to ensure success.

Our program is managed solely by parents and volunteers whose interest is assisting our student-athletes in staying in school and participating in cheerleading and dance.

DYCE is dedicated to teaching the sport of cheerleading to all kids interested in maintaining good grades, working hard, making friends, and having fun.
